How does HarvestDates know what's in season?
We assembled crop-by-state season windows from university extension harvest calendars — the charts extension agents publish for their own states — and cross-checked them against USDA marketing-season data. The "now" board reads today's date on your device and looks it up against those windows.
Why does the site ask for my state and not my zip code?
Because harvest charts are published state by state, and pretending to street-level precision would be fake. Within big states the spread can be a couple of weeks north to south — each state page says so plainly.
Will a farm near me really have what the board says?
Usually, but farms run up to two weeks either side of the typical window depending on the year, the variety, and the microclimate. For a u-pick trip, call the farm before you drive — our u-pick planner builds that honesty in.
